Family Time Fruit Picking at Sakaguchi Noen Farm – Wakayama

What can be a better family activity than picking fruits? This is absolutely something that doesn’t exist in Singapore anymore with her rapid modernization and an exceptional experience to back-to-the-basics for city-dwellers like us. Oh … by the way, I have a word of advice here… do pick up a decent bit of Japanese before coming to Wakayama. Don’t be too surprise if the standard of English comprehension by the locals here is bad or very bad. This is afterall not the likes of metropolis-like Tokyo, Osaka or Kyoto. The alternative is to have a I-device or the likes to do a quick translation […]

Monkey Mountain @ Arashiyama

Yes, that is the monkey park located at Mt. Arashiyama, about 15min walk from Torroko Saga Station, past Togetsukyo Bridge to the “World of the Monkeys”. While it is unfortunate that I have been as close as 1.2km to this amazing place, I didn’t set foot on it :/  … What can I say lol, just don’t make my mistake hahaha! And most of all, I would like to thank Golden Diamond for allowing me to re-blog her article so that others visiting Arashiyama for the natural beauty there, won’t miss out this treasure among others. They will be looking at […]

Arashiyama: Another photogenic Autumn Beauty …

Arashiyama have numerous sight-seeing spots from the Bamboo Grove, a number of temples (Daikakuji, Gioji, Nisonin temple, etc), Sagano scenic rail-ride and Hozu River Cruise to name a few. On my trip there, I was fortunate to be able to at least make it to two of the scenic sites … though more would have been better on hind-sight, just that they weren’t part of the plan then. We took the Sagano Scenic Rail ride (from Torokko Saga Station) after hopping out from JR Saga-Arashiyama Station. It is just located conveniently beside each other. The rail ride by the ravine brought us towards Torokko Kameoka […]

One of the best optical illusions from Korea is also here in Singapore … Yay! Tis is located at Suntec City Mall, Level 3. And this is also my maiden attempt to share more about what’s good and where to go when coming to Singapore 😉 It just won’t do to blog about nice things about other countries when Singapore too has nice scenery and entertainment …hahah! ALIVE museum actually look small from the entrance … well … I believe the area used is not too large either, but do not judge the value from just the exterior look, afterall, […]

Closer to nature at Nara Deer Park

Ever thought of getting really close to one of nature’s most docile animals – Deers ? Well … if one is somewhere around Osaka or Kyoto, it might be worth to make a side trip to Nara.  It will probably take you about 40min from either way.  The Nara deers, symbol of the city roams freely about this area, no fence, no enclosures, or anything. Almost exceptionally tame to humans most of the time … that is until one gets one of the deer crackers peddled by the street hawkers … or in fact just about any other type of food […]

Driving in White-out Conditions, Sounkyo, Hokkaido

Being staying close to 300+ days every year in a country like Singapore where it is sunny, hot and humid all year round, maybe wet and humid but hot all the same, it really makes one desire naturally air-conditioned temperature, snow, coolness, the escape from perspiration. Well … there is a trade-off …hahaha …. in a hot and humid country like Singapore, no matter how bad the weather is (which could only be wet or wetter), there is never an issue with driving. There is no such thing as poor visibility, maybe not so good visibility which is really very heavy […]

Osaka Minoo Park

Minoo Park in Osaka is a MUST GO !!! Though one must be prepared for about an hour walk from start till end with the end point climax as the 33m tall Minoo Waterfall! This should hardly pose any problems to abled adults, but for those with children, ice-cream at the end point could be quite a motivation for them 😛 The Best Time to go should be Autumn as you can see from the photos of the exceptional autumn colors that are so mesmerizing and  picture-perfect. The park can be easily reached by train via Hankyu Minoo Line to Minoo Station.
