Equipment for Travel
One of the MUST bring when travelling is always a camera. Whilst most of the point and shoot camera is adequate, if one is looking for something better, suited for travel photography, it might be worth investing into a DSLR camera, after all, a nominal entry DSLR will set you back by ~$1K just one time, and an annual travelling trip with a family is usually about $4-8K, maybe more. Looking at the running annual travelling cost versus a good camera cost, I would consider this a worthy investment in the long run.

|Nikon D5500 DX-format Digital SLR w/ 18-140mm VR Kit (Black)
Nikon D5500 DX-format Digital SLR w/ 18-55mm VR II Kit (Black)
This is one of the latest and among the best of it's class, a 2015 upper entry DLSR (Digital Single-Lens Reflex) model. As an information to layman, don't buy a basic DLSR camera body without a lens. These camera type needs to function with a lens (VR Lens Kit). As a bundle, it usually comes with a 18-55mm Lens, however I would recommend starting with a 18-140mm Lens instead. Putting it simply, this lens will give you a better zoom-in photo. Of course it can do more than that, but that is another long story 🙂
Here is a Digital Photography Review of the camera.
|SanDisk Ultra 64GB Class 10 SDXC Memory Card
SanDisk Ultra 32GB Class 10 SDHC Memory Card
SanDisk Ultra 16GB Class 10 SDHC Memory Card
The Memory Card is considered the brain of the camera ... in a way. It captures all the beautiful images of your travel via the camera. So if you are going for a long travel, it does make sense to have enough of these memory cards during your travel until you are able to download the images from the memory card into a storage medium (e.g. labtop, portable harddisk, etc)
|Nikon 27126 EN-EL 14A Rechargeable Li-Ion Battery
If the Memory Card is the brain, then the Battery will surely be the Heart of the camera. And it does make sense to always have at least 1 backup battery in case one goes flat during the course of the day due to too many nice scenery to take haha!
|Marumi 67mm 67 Super DHG Filter UV L390 MC
This UV Filter lens is to be attached in front of the main lens. It acts primarily as a first-line protection to the main lens against scratches. So I would also recommend this as an essential accessory.
|Professional Cleaning Set for DSLR Cameras and Sensitive Electronics (Canon, Nikon, Pentax, Sony) - Includes: Altura Photo Spray Lens Cleaner 2 oz. Bottle + Lens Cleaning Pen + Lens Brush + Air Blower Cleaner + 50 Sheets Lens Tissue Paper + 3 Pack Oversize and Original Premium MagicFiber Microfibers Cleaning Cloths
This is a recommended basic cleaning kit mainly for the lenses of the camera if it gets dusty, oiled, stained.
|DiCAPac WP-S10 Pro DSLR Camera Series Waterproof Case
Cameras are scared of weather: water, snow, sand, dust. Personally, unless the occasion requires, it might be better without using this. However if situation demands, this could be an option to waterproof your expensive DLSR camera. Before use, it is always recommended to do a water-proof testing for the casing in water before putting in your camera. While people have used it for snorkeling and diving, it could get tricky with depth when the air inside (if not squeezed out before) starts to expand and get the bag floating, or worse, bursted. So I would recommend it in conditions more for splash-wet rather than dip-wet.
|Sealife Small Moisture muncher 10 capsules, 1.5 grams each
Essential when using the camera for snorkeling with the waterproof bag or for wet / splash condition. These desiccants ensure that water vapor will not form inside the bag and affect image quality, plus it will help to keep the camera dry.
